In order for your organization to successfully transition toward sustainability, all parties need to be engaged in the process. The Green Team Spirit program creates the foundation for culture change within an organization. It encourages staff and stakeholders to work together in cross-functional collaboration where they might not have done so before. Working toward sustainability relates to people’s lives. It is a great equalizer where job title and function are secondary to a person’s willingness to work toward a common goal. As the program matures, the culture continues to shift and a new consciousness emerges, engaging staff, stakeholders and the wider community. Success and positive feedback are contagious. Acknowledgement by leadership of a “job well done” goes a long way toward ensuring a successful program.
